i have a gift certificate to amoeba music, and i was going to try to
use it to find some nice 31-tet orchestral music. any ideas?
string quartets are nice, too, but i need non-electronic for my
soul.
i already am looking for the Henk Badings quartet #4.
also, is there some nice 19 tet orchestral stuff?
i don't really want to bother with quarter tones right now.
thanks-i know this is a little off-the-wall

I don't know what kind of luck you'll have at Amoeba. I'm
not aware of much microtonal orchestral stuff. Perhaps
Carillo? If you want to avoid quarter-tones, that rules
out Wyshnegradsky. And I don't think the AFMM CDs are out
and about yet.
I could never find the Badings quartets. Here are two
orchestra-like Badings finds, I'm not sure how microtonal...

...one nice thing about Amoeba is that they'll order stuff
for you. So if you can find it on Amazon, you can still
use your certificate.

thanks, i'm in LA, yeah, they never have the things i'm looking for,
in classical music. that goes to show how far my tastes have
varied from the mainstream, i guess. it's just mail order from
here on out. Classical music sucks in the sense that is so
much harder to be a live composer than a dead one!

I doubt this is what you are looking for, but quite a bit of music is
available in meantone. Monteverdi in 1/4-comma should be fine for your
soul even if it isn't what you had in mind.
