As Jonathan would probably have mentioned also. HP used fingernail polish
which you can also feel under you fingers. When i replaced my hammer
dulcimer bridges with brass ,i also found it useful to mark a series of
fourths for visual reference. The down side is toxic and so one should use
it outside.

I imagine The Bassist Jack Bruce would have liked such an instrument
starting on cello and going to 6 string bass
