Dan,

Wipe that drool up, will you? <g>

As always, I am humbled to share among such great colleagues, and while this is fun and all I will also share my trial that, yes, this week I couldn't hire a good young stud snare drummer for "Capriccio Espagnol", and I had to practice and practice a damn pppp snare drum roll, stealing valuable time from my life for stuff like this. First rehearsal sucked, second reh was bearable, dress I realized I could do it, finally.

But I digress...

...and I realize I've not been clear, because the progression I was speaking is used in the *film*, and the beginning of the actual piece "Dreamer" comes later.

But, yes, I liked that. Let me know if you haven't *seen* Dreamer, and we'll fix it, but that 'G' tuning fork is an isolated shot in the film, and very emblematic of Harry, his 1/1, and all. I drove HP to and from some of the mixing sessions for the soundtrack/recording, and he was enchanted by a professional 8-track studio (circa 1971).

I can actually pass that along to the engineer, who I am still in touch with...

>Okay, enough mushy stuff, I promise...

This place ain't about Mom, though she is always proud of her kids (like someone who is now successfully uploading mp3 files... <g>)

With gratitude,
Jon

Dan,

I'll work on it.

>Ha, that would be nice.

Will do. Mark was described by Harry as "the most dedicated recording engineer I've known since 1954".

>btw, what do you think... what's your favorite Partch recordings, >performance and sound quality wise?

Too hard a question for a short answer. Later.

>Yeah, what an ordeal! Good thing your a patient man... I'll get all this >stuff one day, I really will...

We are *all* learning. Or, rather, we should be!

Cheers,
Jon

I agree with what Dan says about this recording. And _Dreamer_
has always been and will remain one of my favorite Partch compositions
and recordings.

I think there's a *personal* humanism in it that's not in many
of the other Partch pieces. They all were about corporealism,
and Philip Blackburn (in his Microfest 2001 lecture) showed how
really personal were so many of Partch's references to his musical
influences, but none (to me) reach deep down and touch his
own life the way _Dreamer_ does.

love / peace / harmony ...
