Hey, everybody here is welcome to use the 20 MB space on tuning-challenges
when this list overflows. You'd have to join the list to post or
download, but could avoid the "challenging" posts (no, our crazy_music
friend is not there).

Use as desired.

I've not been able to download any complete mp3's, as always. Jon, I
did get _part_ of your part of a piece, and it sounds nice. Jacky,
I got a piece of your frog post as well; har! Fun.

That is really a kind offer. John, if you felt like doing it, you could (as owner) change the settings of the files area to be open to the public, which I imagine would allow one to post a link to the CMM list and *anyone* could download it. Completely up to you...

This is so unfortunate, and I've heard of just a couple people with this problem. When the Yahoo servers are bonking a bit, even I have problems getting a long file, but usually a second try makes it happen.

Could you post, either privately or on the list, details of your dial-up connection and setup? (modem speed, cpu, operating system, browser) Maybe we can figure something out.

Cheers,
Jon

Aha, didn't realize I could do that, but it's now _done_. Anyone
should now be able to access the file area there:

/tuning-challenges/files/

For example, Jon, you could upload your big complete piece! Go! Go!
Go!

For quite a while, I was quite certain that Yahoo is/was the problem,
but I'm starting to suspect my own computer and/or Earthlink. Lemme do
some more investigation at my end.

BTW, a very belated congratulations on this wonderful new group, Jon!!

Go-go music aside, I actually did try to upload, twice, but was unsuccessful. I don't like the interfaces where you have *no* idea what is happening, just waiting; I prefer to upload/download with an ftp client, but can't with Yahoo.

I tried putting up a temp site at Tripod last night, based on a good review from CNet, but even there it is *slow*. I can ftp, but it was going to take over an hour for my 11.8 meg file to upload, and I don't know if that is really the way to go. I'll try late tonight when I don't have to do other stuff. Boy, I sure wish I had DSL or cable...

I'll keep you posted. For now I've got that gamelan piece up, and maybe will just do snippets of pieces for the near-future.

Cheers,
Jon (who will still try some pieces at t-challenge...)
