help with cubase-->scala-->cubase

Hi there,

so here's what I'm trying to do: compose music for microtonal piano
via a vst plugin of a piano.

so...

I want to sequence with cubase
midi relay with scala
then have it played by a vst instrument in cubase

i can do this.

The problem is that I have to have the vsti selected in order to hear
anything, but I like to compose as I hear it played back and adjust
accordingly.

Any ideas? Is there any good free vst host? synthedit doesn't work for
whatever reason, and audiomulch doesn't take midi.
