Dear Group,

Thanks for all your input.

Arabic keyboard proposals seem to have two catagories of solutions:

1) Have all tones available by providing more keys.

2) Double (or triple) loading of 12 keys through switching.

With most oriental music a selection of scale occurs. In Carnatic
music for example 72 scales are created from 23 tones(if memory
serves me well). Each scale has 7 tones. With few exception
Arabic scales have 7 to 9 tones (assending and desending differences
accounting for the extra notes}.

I would like to point out that I have drop the multiple key approach
from my current thinking. The post "Arabic Tone Box" reflects my
current thinking and current Arabic practice. Please weave these two
threads together.

WW,
Jim
