trying to understand microtuning in Cubase SX part 2

"The Micro Tuner comes with a vast number of presets, including both
classical microtuning scales and experimental ones."

This is a quote from the manual but I only see 12 and there are only
those same 12 on the install CD. Are they somewhere to download?

I'm very new to microtuning and cannot figure all this out. Any links
or information on how to interpret different ways of specifying
mircotuning so that I can integrate them in Cubase SX would be very
helpful. The Microtuning feature is the main reason I purchased this
program.

thanks for any info here....

greg,

Just to clarify, *what* program are you referring to? Is this a function of Cubase SX (the "Micro Tuner"), or is it also a VST plugin?

I myself haven't used Cubase, so I'll just have to hope someone on the list has first-hand knowledge. If Cubase can alter the pitches 'on the fly' with pitch bend data, then you are going to have to do single-line tracks on different channels (i.e. the pitch bend method would affect all the notes the same way if you played a chord). If, instead, it is trying to send a sysex or other control to retune an entire instrument (hardware or software), then that instrument would have to support that function, and few hardware boxes do.

Also, if internal synths show the tuning working but external ones don't, make sure there aren't global midi setting on the box that have control information filtered out in the incoming data stream...

hth,
Jon

There's only two VSTi that support built-in microtuner in SX ATM -
HALion and Waldorf a1.

Yes. I am referring to the Micro Tuner midi plugin in SX. Thanks for
your reply. It gives me things to try. The thing that frustrates me is
that all this worked as expected in Cubase VST 5.1r2. With or without
VSTi or external devices.
