Micro Tuner Problem in Cubase SX

I can use it with a VST instrument but I cannot get it to work with
external devices. I thought what would happen is that the outgoing
midi notes would be transposed.

Like I said VST instruments work fine but regular midi instruments
don't. Does anyone have any experience here? It would be most greatly
appreciated.

Using OSX 10.2.3 on a Mac G4. Cubase SX is update to 1.0.52.
