Kraig,

Having started this forum, and feeling that there is community even in the simple manner of shared interests (making microtonal music), I don't think it is out of line for one of us to send a message as you did. Obviously this person, for whom the fund-raising is being partaken, is someone that means something to you.

For the benefit of the group, could you maybe post a little note about Andrew? I have never heard of him or the Hafler trio, and I think it would be good to have some background on the situation.

Thanks,
Jon

Hello Jonathan!
Here is a link to one Hafter Trio site.
http://www.libfl.ru/h3o/
(click on everything )
or
http://www.brainwashed.com/h3o/

I think it explains so alot of how this person(s) thinks.

I am greatly overworked at the moment so excuse my lack of eloquence
but will attempt to fill in some of the blanks. It bothers me greatly to see
the
extreme hardship this person is going through considering the importance of
his work.
I urge those who can to contribute what they can

He is and remains one of the most innovative electronic sound artist.
as well of one of the most influential when it comes to what is actually out
there
He has to be one of the first to incorporate all the mediums one comes into
contact with.
Hence you have
Music/sound
package design
text
all elements of the work.
It is a total theater is a way not unlike Partch is spirit although
manifesting in a quite opposite way

This work is extremely smart and filled with mystery which probably
explains his lack of greater recognition.

Commonly one cannot recognize the sound sources
and little is done that isn't done in a unique way
not unlike a Stravinsky.
Even his weaker work is filled with surprises that are witty yet understated.

for those not familiar i recommend the last CD

Hljodmynd

or if one can find a collection of some of his earlier work

Walk gently Through the gates of Joy. Touch kut 2

which includes the perplexing

Extracts from " 'Just" Physiological
Intonation"
