If the PSR is XG compatible then it should be possible
to use Scala. But to my knowledge this has only be
done by one person before. First you need to be
sure that your tuning doesn't exceed the +/- 64
cents difference range. Start Megamid and set its
midi output device to the midi interface. Then close it
again. Then in Scala you type

set synth 108
set adjustment
send

send/screen instead of send shows you if the pitches
are within range.
You need to have a recent Scala version, because before XG
tuning had a bug which wasn't found because nobody used it.

perhaps this is part of the problem. What is megamid? I see it flash
up when I try to send.

A midifile player. Megamid.exe is in the Scala directory.

Ok, I tried to the commands: set synth set adjustment send. Nothing
happens. I downloaded megamid just for fun and opened it. Still
nothing happens. I know the keyboard (psr-530) is recieving midi
because it accepts it from cakewalk and FTS. The synth ought to
display BLK RCV when hit with midi or sysex data, but nothing at all
happens.

I also made sure to send it only scales mapped onto 12 keys. Synths
are annoying, now I remember why I went back to computers. Now all I
need is a microtonal program that works within my sequencer on audio
samples, anybody???

thanks for the help :)
