Hi guys,

I'm writing an evening-length set of pieces for three microtonally retuned Disklaviers, titled Hyperchromatica. The nine pieces I've finished so far last 83 minutes and I'm planning another five or six movements, but ready to unveil the summer's work now:

Kyle Gann: Hyperchromatica http://www.kylegann.com/Hyperchromatica.html

Kyle Gann: Hyperchromatica http://www.kylegann.com/Hyperchromatica.html mp3, 11:31 PDF score When the New Horizons spacecraft took its historic photos of Pluto in July 2015, there was a lot written about Pluto.

33 pitches to the octave, 1st through 15th harmonics of the 1st through 15th harmonics of Eb (13-limit). Enjoy! Feedback welcome.

Yours,

Kyle Gann

I have listen just the first piece. Great. Pretty impressive. Also description is perfect, and the score... I wish I'd have so much time to finish my works to such shape.

I like octophonic elements, triton relations (also in other scores I quickly checked), and of course natural scale impression from the first piece. Kind of post-Skriabin, post-Messiaen. Who are two of my favorite composers.

P.S.: I think we are on similar boat, listen please these three of my microtonal works:

Live performance? Impossible, this is piece for Disklaviers as author emphasizes in his description.

Nobody can perform it from the score, even very good performers used to play complex rhythms.

So thanks to use of Disklavier the concert performance will be acoustic but not live.

It would be interesting to have each Disklavier on different place in the hall, far from the others. Kind of tri-phony...

Kyle, thanks very much for sharing this. I'm slowly working my way through
it -- I have to find the time to sit and listen properly -- and it's very
interesting stuff, as always.

The link for Star Dance has an extra space in it that breaks it. The
correct link is http://kylegann.com/StarDance.mp3 . I'm listening now, and
this might be my favorite of the bunch so far. Very asymmetrical in a
natural and pleasing way.

I appreciate the level of detail you went into with the tuning and the rest
of your notes. I didn't realize that these were physical pianos; the pure
tuning definitely makes a difference to the sound.

Thanks again for sharing.

Regards,
Jake

Hi Kyle,

Been a while since I've checked in MMM. Like Jake I find Star Dance very
enjoyable and continue to sample the pieces.

Thanks for sharing your music!
