A piece (about 4 1/2 minutes)

It's more than an exercise, but the mood is jittery, so I called it "My Doctor Says Caffeine".
(Based on some old advertisement for de-caffeinated coffee I used to find amusing.)

The tuning is a 36-note JI scale adjusted to 171edo. (171edo has no personality that I'm aware of.)

I'm not sure whether the contradictions -- or tensions -- in what I'm trying to do can generate energy or whether they're self-defeating. That ambivalence may come across in the piece, which seems fitfully assertive and despairing, to me.

Not bad, not good. 4 1/2 minutes.

I may do a few more pieces using some of this material, not sure.

You really ought to consider uploading mp3 files, which not only occupy n-th much less space, but also accomplishes quite the same deal as a WAV or AIFF.

I'll listen to this after the download is finished.

This is quite an interesting work emancipating suspense that is pleasing to listen to in the dread of the Bosphorus night on the Anatolian side of Istanbul where I reside.

Quite enjoyable. It sounds quite close to 12 ET in flavor and function.

Thanks for listen and comments.

I'll remember to include an Mp3 copy.

Over my not-terribly-fast Internet connection, on an old computer, the .aif format plays ok, so I had stopped including an Mp3 copy, but I'll resume doing that.

Yeah, despite having some overtone series chords with 13th partials, it uses a long-term 12-tone structure and foreground familiar scales mostly.

I'm still fascinated with trying to get self-similar machinery to produce different effects, so playing around with that will be a large part of what I'm trying to do.

I hope that the different things I'm trying to do will eventually come together -- either in some mathematical or organic unity, or as some kind of music that plays different elements off each other *without* unifying them.
