Looks VERY promising to me.  The coolest thing is that is looks custom-programmable to either guitar or keyboard layouts.  Plus one must wonder...can you make it emulate isomorphic keyboard layouts as well with spacing between the octagon-like-shaped keys to allow bending?

   The other big news is control over pitch and the fact, unlike a guitar, that chords fingering doesn't have to be changed when using the next to top string (something that personally bugs me to death about guitars).

What stops you from tuning the guitar to all fourths?

Nothing...except not sure how long that next-to-top string would last when stretched like that.

agreed - then just use a lighter set of strings

A 12 sting guitar tunes to a G above the high E with 0.007 string
