...an improv based on a little theme that keeps recurring in subtle
different statements. 23-edo anti-diatonic Hugh Tracey treble kalimbas, four
tracks of them, plus two tracks of desk percussion and one track of dumbek.

Ah, finally, tribal microtonality! I was getting bored with the same
styles being posted all the time (sorry folks, no offense). I feel the
change is in the air. Kalimbamusic is coming so naturally as if from
prehistoric times.

I like it AKJ! Do some more as it pleases you.

Nicely done, Aaron. Bouncy, and the hand percussion is the perfect example of how simple things can be so right.

Aaron I really like this one, I'd love to hear a mix without the percussion:
I want to hear more clearly the tuning and patterns. Did you try it that
way?

I think the percussion gives it an edge, but I'll listen (again) w/o it. I
did the kalimbas first w/o percussion...it was good.

Overall, I like the feel of the piece but it could be a minute or two
shorter, and I'm obsessed with tweaking the mix...I'm not convinced that
I've nailed it.

AKJ

PS I'm pretty well kalimba-obsessed these days, so there will be more where
that came from. ;)

Hi Aaron. Back here in my "quiet room", I've got an undependable Internet
connection.

Can you give me a clue or two about how to download this? I can't play it from
the link.

Maybe if I download it, I can hear it.

Now it's playing!

Very attractive sound, very pleasant to listen to.

Groove with plenty of flop/slop, but the claps are pretty tight, so that makes
it feel more solid.

Bongo-ish rolls coming in later add a new element.

Much more organic than something too quantized or cut & pasted -- it has a nice
human feel.

I could listen to this for an hour and not get fatigued.
