Mike Battaglia "Machine" scale in 17 et

A while back Mike posted this scale in 17 ET

! C:\Program Files\Scala22\scl\machine-11-17.scl
!
Machine Temperament, 11 out of 17-equal
11
!
70.58824
211.76471
282.35294
423.52941
494.11765
635.29412
705.88235
847.05882
917.64706
1058.82353
2/1

What I did was use small post-it dots to "map" the scale on my 17 ET electric guitar as seen in this photo. (The colors mean *nothing*)

http://micro.soonlabel.com/17-ET/daily20110311-4machine_tuning_17et_IMG00037.jpg

And using my loop station I laid down a soft jazz rhythm track and then played some leads over it. Of course there are mistakes but the scale is almost all of the time (I'm guessing).

Very nice, Chris, thanks for this! You should try experimenting with
this scale in the 4.7.9.11 subgroup context as well - play an
approximate 4:7:9:11 and transpose it up and down the scale. That's
where I really feel it shines.

Hi Mike,

I don't know how to translate the overtone series notation to scale steps in
17 - or machine scale - could you give me one 4:7:9:11 voicing?

Thanks,

Chris

Something like 0 14 20 25 is 4:7:9:11, or C Bb D F^ where F^ means
1\17 sharp of F. You'll want to play around with 4:7:9:11:13 too,
which is 0 14 20 25 29 or C Bb D F^ Av, where Av is 1\17 flat of A.

You can check out machine and the very closely related supra (which can also be played in 17) here:

Mike,

Those chords are playable but not the most comfortable with the wat my
guitar is tuned.
Let my try with the GR-20 in machine mode. Do you know off hand the scale
degrees in machine?

Try 1-10-14-17. If you have the scale tuned such that all generators
are going up, this won't appear on scale degree 0, you'll get
something sounding more like a sus chord instead.
