"Counterpoint in 11 edo" mp3 in group files

Hey all,

I've put a short mp3 into the group files (per message #25771), which is
a bit of 3-part counterpoint in 11 edo. I'm taking up Gene's
"polyphonic challenge" & will be giving examples of counterpoint in a
variety of equal temperaments, as time permits. Just for fun, mind you.

Comments welcome...

This is AWESOME, but do you think you could render it with something like a harp or nylon guitar patch, too? Just for me, and just for giggles?

I have really been loving on 11-EDO lately, and I think you did an excellent job showing its nice side. *Sigh* now I'm starting to want an 11-EDO guitar. Too bad I don't still have the 22-EDO guitar, then I could just rip out the even-numbered frets....

This is really quite cool - and very polyphonic / contrapuntal. You made 11
edo work really, really well!

It seemed broken when I tried it before; I'll try again. 11edo is an interesting system; Mike Battaglia has been talking a lot about his machine temperament for it recently,

You all beat me to the punch!!! I really like this. I find that, in
terms of categorical perception, it's really easy for me to "think" in
11. Not so much in 13. Still is not easy for me to think in porcupine.
Chew on that, lifetime of learning.

Got it now. Very excellently cool, and it shows why counterpoint is good for you.

Hey Igs,

You are too kind, sir. I have some other projects cooking up front ATM
(including another techno-thingy -- my first 11et piece since "Xenophon"
way back whenever), but I'll see what I can do for you. Just 'cause it's
you & I enjoy giggles as much as anyone. :-)

Best,

Hey Chris,

Thanks for the listen. This little exercise is just a demonstration
piece, trying to squeeze 11et for contrapuntal properties, per Gene's
challenge. I'll probably give 13et a friendly pinch next...so wish me
luck.

Hey Mike,

"Counterpoint in 11" seemed pretty easy-going at the time I put it
together...but I think I just had too much coffee. I'm thinking 13et
counterpoint will most likely give me a rash...

Hey Gene,

Thanks for the thumbs-up. Poring over Medieval & Renaissance
instrumental/vocal scores was both fascinating & salutory. Highly
recommended.
