Quite enjoyable. What temperament is it in? 15-edo? Ah, but I checked once more to see that it's in 14-edo. Close enough!

Oz.

this is great!

It is very alienish and 14 edo discordant but the driving rhythm and melodic
development get it to work nicely.

Awesome piece! Is this your first outing with more than 12 tones?
If so, I for one welcome our new superduodecimal overlords...

I have some friends in the Thorium community who would probably
like this. May I post it to facebook (or, are you on facebook)?

I couldn't figure out how to sign up at NOM to comment there, so
I'll comment here:

>Remember when we were kids, and looking at 1960's artist's conceptions of the "car of the future"? You know -- glass bubble-top, sleek body with big fins & atom-powered? Yep, high-speed driving along the plastic highways of your local glass-and-steel Metropolis. "Thorium Road" is my wink at those cars that never were...

With an EV, your car will be 20% atom-powered on average, in the
U.S. 85% if you live in France or close to 100% if you live near a
nuclear power station. For Thorium, you'll have to live in China
apparently...

registration at NOM has been suspended due to the huge number of spammers
registering.

If you want an account Carl I can give you one. Not really necessary though.

Yes indeed. My Orion Pro had an update I only just became aware of; it
permits the loading of Scala files of more than 12 pitches. "Thorium
Road" is my first real stab at 14edo. I have another work -- in 13edo --
simmering as we write.

Certainly -- that's thoughtful of you, & much appreciated. I hope they
enjoy this tune.

I myself am not on any social network (unless you count Yahoo! groups),
being an eccentric recluse & all.

After all these years, I could still go for an atomic flying car.

I don't blame you. Actually my wife deleted her fb account, and
the next week was called for an interview there. She reinstated
it in time for the interview but wasn't offered a job, possibly
because of her intense distaste for the product.

Incredible... facebook lets you upload videos but not mp3 audio.
The NOM link fires into a php script... SoundCloud doesn't have a
metadata tag for composer, artist, or anything like that!?!
And archive.org just kinda sucks... well, I give up. -Carl

I'll just put it into my public folder if Jon has no objection (I will
assume he doesn't since it is up on NOM already)

this link will work Carl - do your thing - this is a great piece of music!!

Hey Chris,

Glad you enjoyed it. I'm thinking I like the possibilities of this
tuning!

On a barely-related note, I find that NotOnlyMusic's log-in page has an
issue with Yours Truly -- after I log in as required, the log-in page
pops back up a few moments after I try to upload a new file, thus
interrupting the process. However, this seems to be random because I had
no such problems with "Thorium Road". Let me know what you think...

Hey Jon,

I have to say, 'twas a fun piece to write. I'm finding that 14et is very
a accommodating temperament to work with, unlike 13et -- which has a
tendency to resist easy chord progressions, imvho. We'll see how it
turns out...

What's wrong with you, didn't you get the memo? Replies to replies have to be in fewer words than the replies! Get with the program!!!

:)
