A very big thank you to Aaron Krister Johnson for all of the work that goes into organizing an event like this – and also a thank you to the judges and other contestants who are essential as well!

Since there seems to be some questions on releasing music- what I'm going by
is this:

Question to Aaron: "Do I have to keep this piece unpublished until the
contest judging is done?"

Response from Aaron

"Yes, do not publish the piece....online or elsewhere"

And this is what I'm going by.

Nice bit of existential brooding. I hear drawfs are good at that.

There part at 1:30-2:00-2:40-ish as it that at 2:25...and around 3:00 is
very moody...plus around 3:50 the energy and attitude in the playing is
fantastic...4:20-4:35 sounds straight of FSOL (same feel)... And everything is
loaded with gobs of tonal color and has strong motifs while being loaded with
variation. Love it!

I'd actually say I like this more than most of Igs's typical songs
(even)...and that's saying a lot because those songs are excellent. What makes
this piece stand apart from most microtonal pieces to me, even a lot of the good
ones...is the sense of moodiness rather than just pure technical bliss.

Makes me really want to look into the tuning and well (no surprise, a good few
of the tuning's Gene posted are just plain awesome)

Now if this didn't place...the top 10 better make my jaw drop.... :-D

Hi Mike,

Chris>"Thanks for the listen and extensive comments. What is FSOL?"

Future Sound of London....very experimental ambient electronica group which
makes towering existentialist-sounding collages... They don't use pianos a
lot...but the mood sounds familiar to some of their music, particularly on their
album "Dead Cities"... Side note: Solo (back on Traxinspace) was/is a huge fan
of theirs...and you can hear some of that mood/flavor in his tracks as well.
