Since we're asking questions, I'll ask one I like to ask from time to time: what is out there which can take midi files and output music? Aside from Timidity++, of course.

Pianoteq but just for piano (mostly)

There are a number of inexpensive DAWs or some trackers, free or in expensive can as well.

I'd suggest one of the inexpensive versions of sonar and a good but inexpensive garritan sample set.

There will be a learning curve though.
