Centaur's Pasture comparison

🔗christopherv <chrisvaisvil@...>

A while back Kraig Grady, the author of the JI tuning "Centaur" asked me to transpose my piece Centaur's Pasture composed in his tuning to different "keys" in order to hear the different character each transposition would have. Being short on time I only present a handful of transpositions, original, semitone, major 3rd, tritone, and fifth. Kudos to anyone who listens to them all!

The +1 would be one of the worse keys. Hopefully it would show there is no reason to be completely shy of the other keys
+3 would have been good, +6 sounds better than i would expect

Kraig, these were chromatic transpositions. Were you actually looking
for diatonic transpositions?

Quite surprising to me the original JI version is #5 ( at this moment) on
the chart at a 12 equal site. I just noticed that.

Here's a Scala scl file I've had since 2004 but never actually used if you feel so inspired:

! centmarv.scl

I grabbed this. I'll get it into Centaur's Pasture eventually - however,
perhaps this is the spark I need for the untwelve competition. Thank you!
