<sigh> I wish! I have to play an orchestra concert tonight, and I don't think they'll rewrite the program (including Angel Romero doing the Rodrigo "Concierto...") in 22!!

Best I can do? I'm going out to the practice studio (i.e. garage) and I'll set my metronome at 88, which is not only 22*4 (who says Jonny can't do math!) but is also the tempo of one of my maverick-favorites: Varese "Ionisation".

But wait: I'll eventually come home, and I can turn on the synth gear and computer! What scale/kbd mapping in Scala would *you* suggest for messing around in 22 later tonight?

Awaiting your answer...

Cheers,
Jon

i think manuel told me he already has the four i recommended in there:

this one maps one acoustical octave to two keyboard octaves:

* the full 22, with every keyboard 'e' left out of the mapping (used
for TIBIA);

these three use only 12 notes per octave so preserve the appearance
of octaves on the keyboard:

* the 12-out-of-22 in my paper, where e-f and b-c are 1/22-oct. and
all the other half-steps are 2/22-oct (used for Decatonic Swing).;
* the 'jurassic' one, which is just a chain of 22-equal fifths from
Eb to G# (we haven't written a piece for this yet);
* the 'glassic' one, where the white keys are 3/22-oct. apart except
G-A is 4/22-oct. apart, and the black keys give you a 9-tone chain of
fifths in conjunction with some of the white keys (used for Glassic).

so far, i've only implemented these internally on my ensoniq, and
then also using midi relay, though the latter option . . . well, you
know.
