HI Tunatiks

As an exercise in futility, I have used the midi file provided by Marcel, and LucyTuned it to 3b2s i.e CC#DEbEFF#GAbABbB.

This gives us a rather strange chord of CEbF#A in bar 20, yet it actually sounds right.

I suppose you could consider it to be F# diminished 7. (F# A C Eb) three steps of bIIIrds.

Anyway I have put the files at:

http://www.lucytune.com/BeethovenJIClaims/BeethovenWo03LT3b2s.pdf

http://www.lucytune.com/BeethovenJIClaims/BeethovenWo03LT3b2sBone.mp3

for those who, like me, who are curious.

Not surprisingly, Beethoven sounds great in a heavy Meantone. This piece would also sound excellent, albeit more "music of the spheres" unusual, in a turbo "meantone" like 26 equal, a highly underrated tuning.

Great, thanks for the rendering.
It surprises me it does it this well. As this piece is exceptionally good at
making alternative tunings sound bad.

Could you perhaps render my DeVelde-JI version with thesame sound for
comparison?
That would be really great.
Can't render myself yet with any good sounds and a fair comparison would
only come from thesame sound.

You can find the what looks like final version of my tuning at
www.develde.net called release candidate 1, uploaded it a few minutes ago.
I have it in scala sequence file and as pitch bend midi and as midi tuning
standard midi.

I concur. I still prefer quarter-comma or 31 equal for their better handling of 7-limit (and 11), but I'm biased towards 7/4 as the "ideal" augmented sixth.

Though I would like to hear a 26 equal version...
