Lots of frets

For some reason, I've never had much trouble with the 30's tunings...I now have 31, 34, and 36, and like them all for different reasons. The comma in 34 is a bitch, but is wonderful as a compositional device. Yep, the frets are teensy, but I've always been a fanatic for finger precision...of course, fat chords don't work so well, but melodic stuff is a hoot. Just got an oud from a guy in Jerusalem, and had a lesson with Iraqi maestro Rahim Alhaj in Albuquerque...a 40 year dream come true. He's a monster player, lots of CD's out...a long time student of Munir Bashir...www.rahimalhaj.com Best to all from the land of the Broncos...Hstick
