hardware lattice keyboard (was: composing in Blackjack)

Hey, watch it ... now you're infringing on *my* ideas! ;-)

In fact, I discussed the construction of precisely this kind
of instrument with instrument-builder-_extraordinaire_ Bill Wesley,
on the ride back to San Diego from the El Paso Microhoot in November.

I decided finally that instead of continuing to wait for my
software ideas to be realized, I'd just go ahead and build a
hardware "lattice-keyboard". Unfortunately, my income took
a severe downturn right after that, so no hope for hiring Bill
any time soon ...
