needs to be taken with a grain of salt, for unless an action takes
place in a void, a "different result" CAN result from "doing the same
thing over and over again", being the product of a repetition and
external change. I cannot tell you how happy and relieved I am to
have flown in the face of the wisdom in your quote in a few matters
in life, whew......

wedding in Slovakia, my wife's friends arranged to have a gypsy band
for the wedding with cimbal because they knew i loved this
instrument.once we relocate back to Europe i hope to get one as it's
just begging serious microtuning.

Yes, I'm in Slovenia, 200 kilometers from Bratislava in Slovakia and
200 km northwest of Slavonia. It's easy to mix up the places not just
because they are so close to each other, but because of names for the
languages, and adjectives- "slovensko (a, etc)" means Slovenian in
Slovenia but it means Slovak in Slovakia. These get mixed up in DVD
menus; my son found by trial and error that he can get Slovene by
clicking "slovašky" on one DVD, which should be Slovak, but usually
if there's "slovensko" on the menu, it's Slovak and not Slovenian.

Google.si, google.sk, and google.com filter these differently, by the
way.

The folk instrument here is the zither. The "real deal" Slovenian
citra is fretless, has bass drone strings and is sadly almost
extinct. The Slovene zither society says that it "sounds somewhat
foreign to us", haha.

Humorously enough the cimbalom and gypsy violin are the instrumental
sounds of my childhood- "no hippy music in the house!" so we had old
Eastern European folk music records on endless replay. First heard a
Beatles album at age sixteen- the White Album, LOL. No TV and no pop
music at home in the most formative years makes for some serious gaps
and twists in communication with most people under about 60 years
old, hahaha!

Anyway Daniel I hope you do get a cimbalom, go man go! I just got the
wood for making a zither of some kind, from a huge hundred-year-old
door of superb larch, yeah!
