Shaahin,

Great piece. I'm also glad to see higher quality mp3s on
your site, and that you're using googlepages.

I also got the 192Kbps version of Cyrus the Great. Fantastic!
(And I didn't see the film 300, because from the preview I
thought it looked fatiguing on the eye. I didn't think about
the portrayal of Persians at the time, but I can understand
your point of view here as well.)

Nice piece. It has a very exotic feel. I'm interested in the concept of
unequal tetrachords, but I haven't done much with them. Your piece
suggests that it can be a useful approach. Does anybody have any good
theoretical insights into how they can be used to good effect?

Even Ptolemy mentioned this as you can find in his writings. He suggested that the interspersing notes in the lower tetrachord be higher than those found in the upper. My thought on this i think was to increase the feeling of mode in the sense that only certain tones would be perfect concords so one could tell easier what the mode is. My thoughts on it. haven't had a chance to listen yet. just got back here.
