another tidbit -- and a frustration -- applying fx to an overall mix is
something i try to avoid or do only very slightly -- a little EQ tweak,
maybe compression. much better to apply fx to each track as fits it.
but my conundrum with my current setup is i have an outboard fx box,
but cannot apply an fx to just one track while keeping all the others
playing dry. and if you try to play a track solo and put an appropriate
amount of fx on it, inevitably it won't be the right amount of fx
when put back into an overall mix. probably it will be way too much
fx, im my experience.

a tricky problem, one that only *more* gear will solve. ;) paul
