Fugue in 8ET

Isn't it partly (mostly?) a matter of timbre? organ timbre by itself, I find to be too bright, almost dissonant, espeically when "all the stops" are pulled out as in this example.

I'll bet if this fugre were played on a cute, plinky harpsichord, it would be positively delightful.

Yes, definitely. The organ is overbearing.
