I put this together for Euler's tricentennial, then forgot what day it
was. It's still April 15th where and when I'm sending it, though.
In 300-edo, as a chain of alternating 700 and 704 cent fifths. Based
on a non-mathematical impression of a page of Euler's formula.
The theme is from Per NΓΈrgΓ₯rd's infinity series
(http://www.pernoergaard.dk/eng/strukturer/uendelig/uindhold.html),
starting on the second note, using the fifth as the generating
interval.
I had a lot more I wanted to say about this, and three more movements
I wanted to put with it, but this as it is is something I enjoy
listening to, which is enough.

I took a look at this site, and was left with a
question: what in hell is the "infinity series"??

Thanks, I'll take a listen.

It's just a piece of pre-compositional material, like a scale or a
row. In this case, it's a series of numbers that can be mapped onto
notes however you like. I don't know if there's anything I can say
about it that the site doesn't say better.
It has an entry in the On-Line Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences

Thanks--the above is *way* better than the site, which
didn't even tell me it was an integer sequence, let along
give the recurrence relationship.
Mostly I just threw that line into the email as a guard against
accusations of plagiarism. I liked the melody I used enough to use it,
but I felt like I had to say where I got it, since I didn't strictly
write it myself. Other than that it has nothing to do with the piece.
The melody itself isn't even that important to the overall sound of
it.
