Justin:

"When using a rule set for a JI scale do the Turkish accidentals create
offsets from the values of this scale or from the values of 12tet ?"

When using a tuning rule set, the default values of the Turkish
accidentals offset from 12-et.

Harmony Assistant also provides a MyScript which allows you to
pre-define microtonal accidentals and store them as files, which can
then be inserted into the score. The problem is that this a relatively
new feature and unfortunately, has practically no documentation at all,
and so far no tutorials either. I have very little idea how to implement
this MyScript and I'm still puzzling over it -- and whether it will
offset from the tuning rule or 12-et.

(In your HA toolbar, "Scripts"/"Notation"/"Notes"/"Microtuned
accidentals" to access this feature.)

I'm hoping you're *much* more savvy about this than I am, Justin -- and
if you figure this out please let me know!

Best o'luck,

jls

Thanks for the heads up.

Your info means I am unlikely to buy HA at this stage, unless I can find a (convenient!)
work around to achieve a particular set of pitches.

I will look into the scripting feature you mention. And let you know if I can make sense of
it.

Thanks

Justin

I just had a look at the my script feature you mentioned. I cannot use it without buying the
software. By the looks of it, it would work the same waay as the turkish accidentals except
it would be more convenient as you would not have to redefine the accidentals per staff,

Looks like I will need to find another way to work. I found this notation software which is
set to come out in October 2007. It looks great !

With this and one of their keyboards with the included micro synth, you would have a no
nonsense set up with very little stuffing around. Mega Score looks like it would be a good
option by itself too (A mega score! ;-) )!
