For Kraig Grady--SteadyStateUniverse

Hey all,

This is something I did back in July, and for some dumb reason, never
posted.

Anyway, it's an ambient piece, done simply by applying some sound file
stretching and slight reverb to an incredible Chinese group-singing
field recording I found on the 'net. Lots and lots of naturally
occuring overtones(JI) here. Sit back, and bath in the cosmic wash!

I would like to dedicate this to Kraig Grady, in friendship, and as a
meager nod to the wonderful work he did on his latest album, which you
all should DROP EVERYTHING and buy---it's simply gorgeous ambient
acoustic work! It's called "Beyond the Windows, Perhaps Among the
Podcorn" and it's around 55 minutes or so of glacial texture where the
primary focus is on beating, timbre, space, and resonance. I have a
regualr listening session with a friend, we put this CD on, and shut
out the lights, and revelled in the timeless aching ancient feeling of
this music. A must-hear!

Best,
Aaron.

Thanks so much Aaron!

Molting in its steady state
all in a pop songs length!

I makes me really see the stretching and compressing of the waves.
i like sounds that make me see things!
Surfing the cosmos

I would love to hear it
in meta meantone a spaced
polychord. i chose
D and F#major
D with its 40/27
maybe against Bb Major
as a way to hear it.
or even a triadic diamond
how it plays out in that tuning
just add G major (or B major in my case
but why go over that soil again)
then you have 6 triads (added are the three minors) to pick from
in different combinations. modulate this around
be able to slow down the timbre changes
of each single note increasing over time
just to see how speed effects it
drop it into other meantones

Maybe those bushmen were on to something with the dideridoo

glad you like the CD i have played it at all types of different volumes but not too loud
i even increased Debussy a few notches at times to hear what it must be like inside the orchestra, but the ear still at a balanced place.
or sitting further away, even in a different room, mine too!

Very nice, Aaron! Right up my alley, so to speak. Beautiful textures.

Thanks for the reminder on Kraig's new CD, as well -- gotta get myself one of those.
