List/friends,

I've got the basic parameters of a site up - point your browsers to
http://www.microtonal.org/

What you see is a framework of the place; the main reason it exists
is to have somewhere to upload mp3 files, and if no one ever *visits*
the site, fine (we can just post links to the files). One thing that
will be there, and you can test it out, is streaming of a RealAudio
file so even a casual browser to the site can hear one of the pieces.

However, I'll fill it out as much as people want, so just take a
quick look, and then give some feedback. Essentially what I would
like are your recommendations for:

- sites that should be linked to (tools, info, resources, personal
sites)

- if you would like to be listed in the members page (including links
to your own site, if you have one)

- any other information you would like to see there (within reason!)

- and, obviously, any problems with the site.

This was a quicky, and I've got other duties to attend to, but it's
in place and awaiting the first mp3 file to upload (which will prod
me to put together a page of instructions for uploading!).

Cheers,
ListMom

Dear Mom:

Classy is good, I think, for nervous or pompous 'straights' and curious
(careless) cats.

I'm excited about this as a start!

Cheers!

Pete

Oh great: I'm gonna scare away all the adventurous types! :)

Thanks, Dave, but let me know if you think of anything I should/could
do, at least in the future, for the place...

Cheers,
Jon

Thanks for your altruistic efforts here Jon. I'd be honoured to be
listed on the member's page. The link to my instrument making project
is: -

http://homepages.which.net/~alison.monteith3/index.html

Three old 22 tet guitar mp3s at: -

http://homepages.which.net/~alison.monteith3/Treebird.mp3

The last is an excerpt from a longer piece. More in the pipeline.

Kind Regards

I've got you added to the members page, see if anything needs
correcting.

See the music page WRT file uploading, etc. And I am enjoying those
pieces...

Hi Jon . . .

Well, the "Local Anomaly" link doesn't work for me -- I get
a "connection lost" message -- and I don't usually have problems
playing clips from the web. Just a heads-up to let you know that not
everyone will be able to get this webpage to work for them . . .

When debugging problems like this, it is spectacularly helpful to know the platform/computer you are working on. What kind of net connection, what browser (and version), do you have the RealAudio plugin installed, etc. Not saying the problem is on your end at all, but the technical support department (me) works best with a glut of information.

As I posted, I'm actually streaming off the RealServer installed at corporeal.com (courtesy of Harry Partch), and I haven't had anyone mention a problem here on the list, and/or haven't had any reports of trouble from the Partch site for a couple of years.

All that blather said, I'm happy to help if I can find out what the problem is for you getting the music streamed...

Cheers,
Jon

It's a T1 connection, shared by my whole company.

IE 6.0

Yes.

Such as?

Of course. Sorry.

Actually, I did report exactly such a problem to you, if you recall --
corporeal.com is one of very few sites that gives me this problem.

Thanks and good luck. I wish your website the best of success, and
will do what I can to help you let it reach more people . . .

Any idea if there is a corporate firewall, and, if so, what kind?

As for the rest, I'm a bit stumped, esp. since you're pretty much the only connection I've had this problem with. My only other thought, though it's doubtful, is that you just happened to hit it the same time a bunch of others did. Unlikely, but...

I'll do some checking, however.

> > etc.
>

That would be the firewall in the above question, I suppose.

I'll see what I can do...

Cheers,
Jon

I'll look into it . . .
