Doesn't use any samples. Does it all through math. Lots of parameters
to adjust (including some partials). Has some hard coded
microtunings. Future version will support scala files. 250 euros
though.

Yeah, I've been watching the dev on this on KVR. Didn't know it was available yet, so thanks. Too bad it is priced that high for 'just' a piano VSTi, but for the right person...

Cheers,
Jon

Joe, do you ever post any music made from vst's on kvr?

I think you meant Jon. Yeah, occasionally, but I post under my KVR screen name...

Unfortunately I don't have a decent controller here.

I figured. :)

Can't give out my secret identity...

Nope. If I have time I might check it out if it is available online. But if it is mostly about basics (which it seems, though making interesting connections), I've been at this music thing for about 40 years. (after saying that, do I put a smiley or a frownie?)

Jon

I don't think this sounds as 'realistic' as a sampler like Giga or
Ivory, but it's quite coles and is 4-5 orders of magnitude smaller
in size. It's also much more flexible -- you can design a piano
sound for your application (from fitting in a mix just right to the
fortepiano for the Beethoven country dance). It also does 127
levels of velocity. No MIDI keyboard can actually output this, but
they can output slightly more than the 4 or 8 velocity layers in a
sampler. Finally, I'm unaware of a sampler that supports partial
pedaling, repedalling, different temperaments, variable octave
stretch and unison detuning, and phase variations in repetition.

I'll say...I think the demos were pretty darn unconvincing. Especially
the fortepiano sounds, which were damn awful, and sounded like a shade
better than a bad DX-7 FM patch.

I thought it captured the 'pinched' sound of a fortepiano rather well.
There seems to be a little chorus (unison detuning?) and maybe too
much reverb on Country Dance samples, but it's better than anything
I've heard from a DX-7, and the DX-7 could be pretty good at its best.
