player, and the bass player, to get themselves Meantone Blues necks,

question regarrding such wide spaces between low frets - how far away
from the fret can your finger be and still have the fret work?

like always, best is right behind the fret. With those wide frets- if you
press more than an inch or so behind the fret, you are then playing fretless
guitar and getting the finger note rather than the fret note.

Thanks Dante. It's really cool to my ear the "fuzzy functionality"
between the harmonic series functions of some intervals and the
low-limit functions that they approximate, it's a nice tension. I
didn't have much luck with harmonic-series scales on keyboards, but it
seems that guitar necks group the tones in more useful ways.
