No really???? They once met?
I bet he would have punched him too!

Or am I being too gullible/literal here again?

I did a quick look and can't find any mention of them meeting in my resources, so I would only add this: Partch was not a physically violent man, and I would be very surprised if he would have actually struck someone such as P. Boulez. But I also don't doubt he would have savaged him with words, if the mood struck...

Cheers,
Jon

Jon!
This was a story conveyed to me personally by Ben Johnson in St. Louis. in
the late 70's, possibly an exaggeration. It seem to remember that Pierre took
the first swing!
I believe the meeting took place in nY and pierre mad come to see his
instruments. Bow-laz pronounced quite loudly that "these are the instruments
that are supposed to replace the orchestra. Harry said something back and
yes p took a swing and harry swung back . They sere separated and supposedly
the whole thing lasted 20 seconds. Maybe ben made it up but i didn't

As far as history records- history for the most part is written by people who
were not there.

Kraig,

Well, I don't doubt your recounting of the story, and it's just not something I had heard. I'll have to ask Danlee about it, since he was there in NY (assuming this was in the 60's, otherwise who knows?).

One thing for sure: he didn't suffer fools gladly!

Cheers,
Jon
