Decaphonic Guitar

Hello microtonals. This is my first message to the group. I wanted to share
with you some new sounds from my decaphonic guitar, which is based on the
ten-tet scale discussed by Bill Sethares in Chapter 12 of his book Tunning,
Timbre, Spectrum, Scale. What initially got me into this are, first, his
comments of his composition "Ten Fingers", using a sampled guitar ["..a
musical style from an unknown musical tradition" (p.262)] and "...there are
no ten-ten guitars..." (p.261). So I decided to have my luthier Mateo Crespi
from Buenos Aires built me a tent-tet guitar and started experimenting with
it. You can hear my fist experiment, recorded a few days after I got the
instrument in the following link where I also put a picture of the guitar

http://albertorojo.com/DecaphonicGuitar/

The composition uses mostly the tritone but in other thigs I wrote since I
use it less. The rythmic section is played by Michael Gould, who teaches
persussion at the University of Mighigan. More soon

Welcome brother acoustic guitarist Alberto!

This is great! I look forward to hearing more 10tet guitar, a most
auspicious beginning! A nice looking instrument as well. We all need a
luthier chained in the basement to make and fret our guitars as we need them
(just kidding).

Dante

This is really cool stuff!

I especially liked 'alberto_mike_mix'.

I would really love to hear what you would do with a 22tet guitar,
or a stagger-fret JI guitar like Dante Rosati uses....

Welcome to the MMM group--I look forward to hearing more from you!

Best,
Aaron.
