FM7 and Scala

Can anyone help me get scala files into FM7? Before my laptop (Windows XP) got scrubbed during repair I somehow managed to save scala files as .mid or .syx files and fool FM7 into accepting them. I'm trying again and although I can successfully save .mid files, FM7 tells me that there's no sysex data (excuse me if this is obvious). I can't make sense of the documentation so practical hands on advice would be most welcome. Thanks.

Hi,

Is the FM7 update still installed on your computer?

Remember to set Scala to send standard bulk tuning dump from
edit/options/midi. That's number 107.

Use the "export synth tuning" command in Scala to save tuning files
which can then be imported as sysex to FM7.
