I think I sensed that this was coming for a while now...I was
wondering how a journal that, by design, relegated itself to a small
corner of the already small (in terms of populus, that is) alternate
tuning universe (JI) could sustain a body of topics to talk about for
some time into the future without reaching a saturation point.

It's too bad, really. I feel for David Doty, seeing his vision sort of
slowly peeter out like this.

By the way, is xenharmonicon still being published?

Probably what will get this flame to larger audiences is not
academic-style articles, but concerts and concert series, festivals,
recordings, etc. People like live music, esp. seeing real-live
musicians playing it (alas for those of us who explore prepared
electronic compositions--tape music, etc.)

The internet has met much of the need previously met by such print
journals. Rumor has it that a new XH is coming out soon, though.
It might be cool to find someone to make 1/1 into a 'whenever it
comes out' kind of journal, like XH has been.

Like anything these things take allot of work and one can only do it so long.
So far there has not been one magazine that dealt with ETs exclusively for instance.
Although Ivor put so much out you might count him.
Maybe someone should.

don't be fooled by these list.
Most of the people involved in JI left these lists years ago.
Note how little David post in these circles

As far as recordings and live music you have Partch, Harrison, La Monte Young , Terry Riley as well as a host of others.
the amount of recorded ET music ( out side of self produced) is unfortunately small David should be congratulated if anything for keeping it going for as long as he did, and many important things found there way into its pages.
Magazines are hard and look at a another former very good magazine, experimental musical instruments, which appealed to an even broader group of individuals yet did not last as long
( not that it is a contest). Bart Hopkins should also be thanked for what he did.

Such efforts are out of a deep love of the subject, something that finds little value in our "practical" world.
For me it is the only thing of any real importance.
i ran and produced concerts for over 10 years, i cannot tell you what it took out of me.

Johnny Reinhard has been doing this also for quite a while, am i am sure it i his love of it , and not much else that gives us those concerts every year
