List,

If one desired the opportunity to hear a 4-hour radio special devoted to the life and work of Harry Partch, one could be satisfied in a few hours. Tonight, from 10:00 PM to 2:00 AM (PST), radio station KFJC (out of Foothill College in the California Bay area) will do just that, including interviews (some taped, some live, like the one with me) with people who knew and worked with Partch, and/or were influenced by him. Details at:

http://www.kfjc.org/promotions/index.php

Note that you don't have to be in the area with an antenna - they stream their shows on the net:

http://www.kfjc.org/netcast/index.php

Check it out. Or sleep. Up to you.

Cheers,
Jon

Wow... so cool. Is it illegal for someone to record the stream and
post it for others? I plan to record it for my own sake, but my
connection is a bit wonky...

Then again, here in the UK it'll be starting at 6am, so I can get up
early to make sure it records ok...

Boy, I don't know. They don't mind you recording, that is for sure, but distribution is always another thing. Most info and contact stuff is at:

Cool. I just found out Danlee Mitchell is going to be on, so my spot is being bumped back to around 11:30 (7:30). I'll probably be swacked and you'll just be getting into your morning tea!

OK, I'm back outta here. I felt compelled to post about the Partch show, which had been in process for a couple weeks...

Best,
Jon

I did get the last 3/4 of the broadcast, I haven't had time to listen
to it yet, though. If anyone's interested in the recording, let me
know and I'll ask for permission. Also, if anyone else recorded the
beginning, let me know!

Jon, thanks for the heads-up.
