Theme and Variations from The Madwoman of Chaillot... This piece was
written in October of 2005 for the Artistic Home's production of The
Madwoman of Chaillot. It consists of a theme and four variations for
accordian and piano.

The theme itself is in a Parisian cafe style. The variations are odes to
various composers-- variation 1 is a Rossini-style tarantella,
variation 2 is a broad classically styled texture with a seriousness
a-la-Beethoven, variation 3 is a canonic ode to Bach with some jazzy
swing rhythms, and finally, a blitzkrieg presto which takes it's
inspiration from a Chopin prelude. The theme is heard again at the end.

Enjoy!
Aaron.

Nice work! What tuning is it in? Personally I can't tell it from
12-edo, although it could be in a slight meantone.

BTW, thanks for just posting a link to the ogg instead of some web
page where I have to jump through hoops.

If I may, I actually suggested to Aaron he post here. Why? Well, it's in 12, but he has been a long-standing member of MMM and I thought the piece was so well done it merited hearing from the assembled multitudes. I've always thought the last M was the most important. :)

Cheers,
Jon

Is there something microtonal about it?

in truth, i believe i had the korg X5DR set to neidhardt 1. so in a
*very mild* sense, yes.

failing that, you could say that each chromatic step is close to 18/17
apart!

Aaron, this is really very nice. I especially liked variation 3.

Since the rest of my reply is somewhat OT, I've posted it on the main
