Celebrate MMM Day 06 - First podcast is up

🔗Prent Rodgers <prentrodgers@...>

I know it's April 8 somewhere in the world. And it's going to take a while to get all these pieces integrated into real podcasts. So, I've posted the first of several podcasts to celebrate *Make Microtonal Music Day 2006*. The first one includes works by ten composers.

1. Harry Partch Reading
2. Bill Sethares - MysteryX
3. Margo Schulter - In Hora Observationis
4. Graham Breed - MMMDay06
5. Joe Monzo - Theme from "Invisible Haircut"
6. Chuckk Hubbard - Big Giant Worms
7. Jon Lyle Smith - Piano and Trio in D#
8. Dave Seidel - Drift Dhikr
9. Anthony Kozar - FMScape no. 1
10. Daniel Anthony Stearns - Day Walks In

I ran out of time to include all 23 people who have submitted. This one is 45 minutes long, and 40 MB big. I'll try to get the rest done ASAP.

You can download and listen at either my Bumper Music Podcasts site ( http://bumpermusic.blogspot.com/ ) or my Libsyn site ( http://podcast1024.libsyn.com ). The libsyn lets you stream on your computer, to avoid the time consuming download.

Better yet, subscribe using a tool like iTunes ( http://www.itunes.com ), Juice ( http://juicereceiver.sourceforge.net/index.php ), Doppler ( http://www.dopplerradio.net/ ) or others. Subscribe by copying the RSS feed for Podcast1024 ( http://podcast1024.libsyn.com/rss ) or Bumper Music ( http://feeds.feedburner.com/bumpermusic ) to the podcatching tool, then when new episodes are released, they will get downloaded at night and just show up on your computer automatically.

You don't need an iPod to listen to a podcast, just a computer and a net connection.

Looks like a good selection. I haven't heard several of these, and the
ones I have heard I'm always glad to hear again. Thanks for making
this happen.

Thanks for the podcast, Prent. I was wondering when you were going to
do another one. I think you should put some Robert Rich (5-7 limit JI
ambient) in a future one. He's on tour right now, and I'll see him in
Philly on the 22nd. :)

I'd be delighted to. Where do I find it?

Here's the samples. I guess you'd have to ask him first (
http://robertrich.com/contact.html ). I'm told the Lithosphere album
has some interesting 7 limit tunings.

That's interesting, Robert Rich was the one name that I thought of
that I'd like to hear too. Guess he's the poster child for microtonal
(at least JI) now. Probably the most likely to push it further
mainstream.

Hey Chuck-key, you BadMutha, you musta been busy!

But I'm glad you finally caught it - well worth the listen, eh?

Modesty forbids me to mention that you will find my slight
contribution in the *second* podcast, along with many worthies.
Don't miss out on hearing these, too!
