Nice. There's no link from
http://hcoop.net/~magnus/
however.

Thanks for looking at it Carl! I just set the page up so it's still a bit bare bones. There's no link to anyone elses site yet but I'd be happy to keep a collection of links to other people's microtonal music. Does that answer your concern? Or did I misunderstand completely? --Magnus

You misunderstood completely. :)

There's textual mention of your music page from your main page
http://hcoop.net/~magnus/
right above another link, but it isn't a link itself. Doesn't
that seem a bit odd?

Or are you waiting to perfect your art before linking to your
main page?

Oh.. It is actually a link ("Music page") but I admit that's probably a little unclear. I will make the whole text a link. Thanks.

Not at all. If I waited until my art was perfect I'd have to wait for a loong time :)

Btw, is there some "prior art" regarding tempering out 513/512?

{2, 3, 19} instead of {2, 3, 5}? The first et to look at for that is
12 equal, and there's a bit of prior at involved with that. If you
want something other than just 2, 3, and 19, 65-et would be a possibility.

Ah, what's happening here is that it didn't, and still doesn't
display in ie. Probably because you have an unclosed <li
there. For once, ff is more forgiving.

What scale did you use? Like Gene, I thought of 12.

Yes that must be it :). I've fixed it now. Cheers!

Sweet!

Dude, if you're in Delaware, it's, um, late. :)

It's simply a chain of 11 fifths, each fifth having a ratio of
3/2 * (512/513)^3 so that three fifths down produces 19/16. This is a very gentle tempering that leave fifths very close to just while adding some JI style locking to the minor triads. The fifths are sharper than 12edo but narrower than 3/2. The wolf fifth is "acceptable".

Very interesting. When I get home I'll try this out with some
intermodulation distortion.

By which you mean 3/2 * (512/513)^(1/3), of course. This leads to a
fifth of 700.829, less than a cent from 12-et. It has a schismic major
third seven cents sharp and a schismic minor third of 8192/6859, which
is eight cents flat. These thirds are, of course, perfectly usable also.
