If he's the Frank Jedrzejewski that I know, he's a French mathematician who works in his spare time with some of the IRCAM people, on math & music issues. Last I saw him he was giving a lecture showing how to use knot theory to classify twelve-tone rows. Best wishes --Jon

Ah, thanks.

:)

Can you send me Xenophon1 and Wind Rider? I promise I won't do
anything untoward with them. In the meantime, may I ask your
thoughts on a real server solution for your music? It sounds like
you're interested in being productive, sharing, charging (?), etc.
for your stuff...

Google Base is one solution...
http://base.google.com/
...rumor is, you'll be able to buy/sell stuff there soon.

There are only ~4MB left here. Yahoo groups come with a paltry
20MB each.

This piece reminds me of Bill Sethares' music for some reason.
Have you heard his stuff?

Also maybe a bit of Jacky Ligon. Wow, what a great flute.
Sounds are fantastic all the way around!

It's nice as it is, but I can't help but wish it broke into a
heavier beat with something else in the flute just as it ends.

I think it's a good bit nicer than Ud And Nay.

Bill Sethares is a member of this list, but more importantly has done a lot of r&d into timbre, tunings, spectrums, and scales - in fact, that is something like the title of his excellent book, now in 2nd edition. There are some basics here:

http://eceserv0.ece.wisc.edu/~sethares/ttss.html

Be sure to check around his site for various things, but here are pages with examples from a couple of his CDs:

http://eceserv0.ece.wisc.edu/~sethares/exo.html
http://eceserv0.ece.wisc.edu/~sethares/xentone.html

Bill does a great job of straddling the line between research and music-making. In fact, the line ceases to exist.

As far as Jacky Ligon, he is a wonderful musician, and helped to start this very list. However, Jacky has taken a more private approach in recent years. He doesn't currently have an online presence, but I'll see if I can find a way to access some of his music. In addition to a deep, deep approach to tuning and synthesis, he is a profound flute player on various hand-made flutes.

Cheers,
Jon

I don't know that he has a home page...

What are the characteristics of his approach to tuning?
