More music in 46 equal temperament

Here is my offering; let's see if this helps keep the 46-et forward
momentum going. The piece is entitled Chromosounds, and commits all of
the sins people have lately been complaining of, and has a few
parallel fifths besides. But I have to say, I don't really see what
the objection is to small intervals and blatant microtonality.

Sadly, the links don't seem to work. Try these:

http://66.98.148.43/~xenharmo/gene.html

http://66.98.148.43/~xenharmo/ogg/gene/chrome.mp3

When I first clicked on the mp3 link it directed me here:

http://66.98.148.43/~xenharmo/~xenharmo/ogg/gene/chrome.mp3

Which gave me a 404. My intuition suggested I try:

http://66.98.148.43/~xenharmo/ogg/gene/chrome.mp3

which worked. The other links seem to have the same issue.

Good to know I'm not the only one posting bad links! ;)

Depends on how you set it up. It may be one of
those things in the domain of the .htaccess file.
But anyway, it's clearly better this way.

Thanks, Carl. Between the micro intervals, the 17-limit harmonies, and
the relentless do-de-da-de-la-de-la on the sax, I was afraid it was
going to drive people a little nuts. 46 is actually quite capable of
lower limit harmony, and can sound very smooth and mellow, but I
figured I'd go with higher limit this time.

This reminds me of something, no sure what. My first impression is
that the atonal lead melody sounds silly (in a good way) but the
shifting harmony sounds great. Not like anything else I listen to, but
it's getting a permanent home on my playlist.

Heck, you can't win 'em all. I did listen to your two pieces, and
they weren't without merit. I usually refrain from such comparisons
on mailing lists like this, but sometimes one also has to give
credit where credit is due.

Actually, someone else did mention thinking about going the 46 route
also; who was that?

It does have kind of a "perpetual motion" feel to it, which is a little distracting at first, but like some minimalistic music I've heard, after a while your mind begins to focus more on the changes and less on the repetitive parts. I think it might start to make more sense after a few more listenings. Reminds me a bit of this song by a South American musician:

Chromosounds is a very impressive demonstration.

() All the harmonies seem very much in tune

() The timbres are just fine for demonstrating the composition

() There are no weird glides or anything like that

I'm not sure if you want to hear the rest of my comments, but I plan
to listen to this piece more than once again!

***Hello Gene!

Well, I think you're really onto something with this. I know you get
upset when people talk about sound quality, but I'm just thinking
that some reverb and some sagacious choice of sounds could make this
quite a slick item indeed. I'm wondering if it doesn't need a "B"
section at some point, but maybe the minimal delirium is part of the
intent...

I just don't want any suggestions I might as well pack it up and quit
if my sounds aren't better. What would you suggest for sounds? As for
a "B" section, you mean as in sonata form or something?
