Carl,

No need to write, I just Googled:

Looks truly intriguing...

Cheers,

No no, contrary to this article's claim OS X does run natively
on x86, though this was not made public until after 1/2005.
10.4.4 is shipping now, and I'm about to try to install it on
my Thinkpad. Whether Jeff's code is ported yet is another story,
but I'm sure he'll have it ported soon, and in the meantime it
may run in Rosetta.

Yup, and here's the official page on it:

Rosetta, by the way, is unique among software emulators. Apple
had the sense to buy it from

To the best of my knowledge the *only* X86 machines OS X will run on
are the new iMac and MacBook announced earlier this month by Apple.

I have a hunch I'll be able to do it.

Video of 10.4.3 running on a Thinkpad was widely circulated.
10.4.4 may have special measures to prevent it, but they'd have
to be pretty special...

I wouldn't be surprised if Apple had an in-house version that would
run on non-Apple PCs for development purposes. Certainly the
commercial release of 10.4.3 was a PowerPC-only binary and so could
not run natively on X86. I'll be interested in hearing of your
progress with 10.4.4.
