I've been thinking of choraled as maybe eventually a second movement
for a sring quartet. Of course, getting an actual string quartet to
play it would be another story.

Make a beautiful score, with lots of detail about dynamics and articulation, then send it to one of the quartets that specialize in doing the difficult: the Ardittis or the Bozzinis, for example. With many groups, even if they decide not to play the piece, they'll give it a private reading and let the composer know why the piece doesn't work for them.

Thanks, Daniel. Making a score, much less a microtonal one, is not a
skill I've mastered but with a string quartet it seems one which would
be worth mastering.
