New on the list

Hi everyone,

I am new on this list. You can hear some of my just intonation music/etudes using the computer here:

http://magnus.smartelectronix.com/examples/just-intonation/

(they all end abruptly, sorry)

Outside of computers, I can play the piano. I'm also learning to play a chinese two-stringed violin called Erhu because I want something with flexible pitch and where I can focus on melody. I'm trying to find some people in the Newark/DE area to explore drone+melody music, just intonation and other microtonal ideas with. I'm 24 years old and I study Computer Science at University of Delaware. I sing in one of the university choirs (nothing microtonal there of course).

Hi Magnus!
i have some friends playing in that area as we speak. Joseph Hammer and Tom grimley , in case you happen to cross paths with them.
These are fun little pieces, some catch me more off guard when the abrupt ending come. which in many ways is how life is, ends unexpectedly. i take these were done in Csound. I think i like the sound of Csound.
keep playing some more with these or along these lines.

Cool. I couldn't find any info about where/when they are playing though. Do they play microtonal?

Heh, it was not meant for artistic effect though. Mostly just because I didn't make any ending because I wasn't sure if the songs are really done yet.

They were actually made in Psycle (Windows) using some custom
built VSTi:s that I made myself. Csound is something I should
learn though but I haven't found enough time/motivation yet.

Thanks for listening!

I know csound pretty well, but I think if I were starting over I might
have spent the time in SuperCollider instead. If you ever do get the
motivation, I would compare the two before diving in. :)

Haven't listened to the pieces yet, but I'm planning to.

I've been out of the loop a couple of days... Mail bouncing.

Ah, the Ehru is a fabulous instrument. I'd be curious to hear if you do
any microtonal work with it.

There's a lot of nice thoughts in your examples/just-intonation. Keep on going...

Cheers,
Rick
