FYI - You can use Garritan samples with Logic

I have yet to try it, as I don't have Garritan; but it looks practical.

As far as I remember there is a way to just import Garritan sample
directly into EXS, which is then microtunable to the (Apple claimed)
nearest 1/10th of a cent.

I appreciate that OSX is an expensive option, but you could try some
of the generous Apple educational discounts, or wait for OSX on Intel
workarounds.

Rather than putting a single voice on a single channel, I have found
that by putting contiguous notes on the opposite of two midi
channel; you can reduce the risk of pitchbend glitches on even slow
devices.
