making money with mp3s

Over the last few years I've encountered some criticism for offering
mp3's for "free" on my SoundClick website:

http://www.soundclick.com/josephpehrson/

However, it turns out that this marketing method came back to me in a
positive way.

Apparently, between 2000-2003, several (I can list the pieces) mp3s
were downloaded from this website by somebody at South Korean radio.
(I'm assuming the *South* and not the *North* since they weren't
marches... :)

Since the works were registered with ASCAP, they decided to
go "legit" and pay their performance royalty radio fees.

Not a lot of money, but a couple hundred $ to me... so the "freebies"
didn't end up being total "give-aways" after all...
