i had meant to go into logic vocoder and see what i could do with noise to illustrate to bill what it might do. but it didn't work at all. while i was there i somehow ended up doing this. http://anaphoria.com/crickets.mp3

That's really pretty! I know you are firmly planted in the acoustic, hands-on world, but with your ear and innate musicality I am sure that if you ever had the opportunity to spend time in the electronic realm, you would come up with a lot of very evocative and persuasive music.

Not forcing you that direction, at all. It just shows that musical instinct is worth much more than wood and circuit chips...

Cheers,
Jon

Yes it is completely diatonic, as one falls off of metaslendro. and admit that it s pretty flat.
Since my back has been forcing me to play with such alien creatures to myself, i have played with more extreme things but haven't really felt like any of it is good enough to let out.
I am quite interested in pitch though and when i get to a certain point of electronics, pitch really doesn't matter at all.
on the other hand we can't concede to staying with sine waves forever. So i am trying to find a point where i can still contribute something to the exploration of pitch along side such an interesting possibilities in timbre.

I take you prodding into that direction though as a well informed and understanding of what it is i throw out

***Although I guess a "toss off..." this is really very
sophisticated... although I'm not surprised...

Wow, do I ever agree with that statement! With Divide by Pi, my duo with Andy
Hasenpflug, I start from the premise set up by some JI system usually, and
where the timbres on a synth tend to take me often leads into the realm of an
infinite pitch continuum, where I just let go and go where the raw expression
leads us.....

Nice! very relaxing and hypnotic, but with a pleasing tension, like most of
your music.

BTW, I think everyone here should here 'Without R&R', Kraig latest, a
mini-disc. My favorite of his output so far, a beautiful disk.

Cheers,
Aaron.
